Before last night, I had only ever heard of Dinosaur Jr, but not ever heard them. When I walked in to Stubb's, they were already playing, in front of a wall of amps. It took only one song for me to be thoroughly blown away, not just by the sound, but by their talent. There was only one guitarist, and he was also the only singer. For acoustic songs, this is the norm, but he was having a jam session on the electric while still managing to sing. Most impressive.
Then it was time for the band I came to see, BUILT TO SPILL! What's crazy is that they really looked up to Dinosaur Jr when they were younger and just getting started, and now they're Built to Spill's opening band! It was one of the most amazing concerts I've ever been to. They even came back to play an encore! It was just perfect.
